In Florida, a home study update is required if it has been a year since your initial study was completed and you have yet to adopt a baby or child. An updated adoption home study is required in order for you to maintain your eligibility. In addition, all of your background checks are also only valid for one year from the issue date.
If you were fingerprinted and your study was completed 2 months later, for whatever reason, you will want to talk to your home study provider. We suggest to our clients that anything dated be current within 30-45 days of the time the adoption home study was completed. We want your study to work for you as long as possible but don’t get caught off guard by not having a Florida home study adoption update if one is required.
