Adoption Training Requirement If looking to adopt privately, you are required complete 5 hours of adoption training. If married, you will need to EACH complete 5 hours of training. We are providing you with multiple training options. Please select courses that you believe will be the most beneficial to you and your family. If you have completed MAPP or PRIDE class within the last five years, please provide us with a Certificate of Completion. That will satisfy the training requirement. After completing any online course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. This certificate will note the “hours earned.” It will be your responsibility to provide us with copies of these certificates. This will be noted in your home study document. Many agencies require “training hours” for their client families. If you are looking to adopt from foster care, the State of Florida requires that you complete a course called MAPP, which stands for the Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting. The class can also be called PRIDE, which stands for Parents' Resources for Information Development Education. This course is sometimes offered for free by your local county, but often families find it difficult to take the course due to the number of weeks where attendance is required or because space is limited. You have the opportunity to take the classes privately, if preferred. Please call our office if you need information as to where to take these classes. TRAINING OPTIONS (for those looking to adopt privately). New Parent’s Academy*Expecting 101 – You’re Adopting! This course qualifies for 5 hours of training and costs $300. This course is highly recommended for first time parents. It can be found online: If married, this course is to be taken together. Should you select to take CPR and are married, each person completing the course must receive their OWN certificate. You cannot complete CPR as a couple.
